The Gnome and the Snow Globe

Bing’s Holiday Journey

Bing, was an unusual gnome.

He loved to travel to the North Pole during the holidays and hang out and help Santa with all the elves. On a snowy eve, he was untangling a knot in a string of Christmas lights when the special jingle bell rang. Curious and startled, he nearly dropped the glowing strand.

“Bing!” Santa’s warm voice called. Adjusting his floppy hat, he rushed to the office, the string of lights still trailing behind him.

Santa handed him an envelope with a personal note attached: “Bing, I have a magical task for you. A new family with a baby arrived in Icicle Creek after being displaced, and they are very lonely. Let’s do something to remind them they are loved.

“Me?” Bing awkwardly replied. “But what can I do? How can I help?
Santa chuckled. You’ll see! “Trust the magic, Bing. It will guide you.”

Before Bing could blink, Santa tapped his left black boot to the floor with authority. A swirl of sparkling gold dust surrounded Bing, lifting him off his feet. The world spun in a blur of light and color. Then, with a gentle pop, he landed softly on the snow.

Bing was a little dazed while taking in his new surroundings. He was inside a snow globe! Snowflakes fell gently from above. At the center of the snow globe stood three perfect Christmas trees. And magically, the String of Christmas lights was transported simultaneously.

“Oh, Ho! This is magnificent!” Bing said, brushing snow off his boots and adjusting his drooping hat again. It was time to string the lights around the trees and set the scene for Santa to deliver the globe to the family!

Once done, Bing stepped back, wiping his hands with satisfaction. He did it; the trees were beautiful. Then, the thought occurred. Hmmm, I wonder how long I have to stay in here?

It wasn’t long. He popped back out as quickly and magically as he had popped into the globe. Then he and Santa stood there a few moments admiring his decorating skills. “It’s that time, Bing, let’s go load the sleigh!”
